This course was the second five-week intensive summer seminar for Year II doctoral cohort candidates. The course focused on building the skills, knowledge, understanding and commitment necessary to become effective leaders in variety of organizational settings.

The focus of the course is exploration and evaluation of advanced and emergent technologies and the means by which educational and training leaders learn about them and sustain them in a learning environment. This course assists educational and corporate professionals to develop innovative educational and organization practices across disciplines.

This course will provide candidates with a comprehensive understanding of the landscape of implementation and evaluation of educational technology programs. The philosophies, methods, and processes of curriculum design in educational technology will provide the framework for curricular models; resources for decision-making; and evaluation methods for educational and corporate settings.

This course focuses on concepts and strategies necessary to step into a leadership role in the integration and application of technology and learning. Topics include strategic planning, leadership styles, institutional change process, designing world-class e- learning, and policy issues in educational technology.

- As a part of the community outreach assignment this activity working as co-coordinator with Patricia Holzman provided opportunities to develop my organizational, communication and networking skills.

- Designing a website as a usable instructional option using online resources stretched my ability to communicate my application of knowledge in a creative manner .

- This group project to develop guidelines for technology use in early childhood programs was completed with Fahima Bacha, Remberto Jimenez, and Meredith Moore.
- The Business of Professional Development
- This activity disclosed the evolving options for professional development in educational settings. Through a review of pass practices and the identification of current trends being utilized with technology providing innovative avenues.
EDTC 814 Effective Models of ELearning (3 credits) Dr. Zieger

- This team building exercise showcased the importance of communication within team dynamics to best utilize analysis team strength,weakness and plan how to effectively address the results.
- Higher Ed Case Study
- Case studies were used to explore the concepts of change powered by needs analysis in course design. The candidate analyzed each case to demonstrate the ability to apply the results of analysis to design and advocate for change in educational settings.
- Leadership Vision & ELearning Plan
- The candidate developed an ELearning plan that incorporates a transformative leadership vision to enable the development and inclusion of technology to promote a districts long term growth.
EDTC 816 Methods for Building OnLine Communities (3 credits) Dr. Zeiger
Assignments:
- Exploring Online Communities
- This assignment provided the candidate an opportunity to review online communities to determine what constituted best practices. Through reviewing the two online communities, the candidate was given the opportunity to reflect on the common aspects that distinguish one community from the others.
- Context Analysis
- This group project completed by team members, Patricia Holzman, Wendy Thompson, and Jennifer Vanyi, was an opportunity for group members to investigate an online community. Selecting, researching, interviewing key members and analyzing the community to determine how analytics are utilized in the decision making process.
- Community Prototype-Tech Supports for ASD Employees
- The final assignment for this course involved the development of an online community supporting the candidates dissertation topic. Utilizing theory to frame the construction of the community demonstrated the candidates ability to analyze and address the needs of the perspective members in the design process.
EDTC 817 Develop and Manage DL Programs
- This course presents the theory and techniques for developing and managing an online program. It focuses on theory and trends in distance learning, with special emphasis on determining ways to provide a high quality of education in a distance environment.
