FUNDAMENTALS OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP
EDTC 801 Summer Institute I (2 credits) Dr. Zeiger
During a week long intensive session, cohort members are given the opportunity to bond and gain insight into the level of rigor required to succeed over the course of the program. This initial development of a shared community of learners actively engaged in a common goal fosters supportive relationships designed to increase the groups graduation rate.

- The cohort worked collectively to define ourselves. As a part of the logo committee, our final product showcases our group vision. The globe for our goal of becoming educational technology leaders with a worldwide vision. The bridge for our shared journey spanning a path to institute change and lastly the words surrounding the graphics which speak for us all.

EDTC 802 Principles of Educational Technology Leadership (3 credits) Dr.Carnahan
This course focuses on concepts and strategies necessary for a leader in a technologically rich environment. Topics include strategic planning, leadership styles, institutional change processes, and policy issues in educational technology.
Assignments:
- Authentic Leadership Model
- Group dynamics, cooperative presentation skills and time management were explored through this activity completed with Francisco Santiago and Stephanie Talalai.
- Blended Learning
- The process of the identification and articulation of an innovative technology through research was examined within this project.
- Literature Review
- Identification of the depth of past and current research on the topic of Blended Learning within educational literature was researched and reviewed.
EDTC 804 Global Issues in Educational Technology Leadership (3 credits) Dr. Shamburg
This course investigated educational technology through a global perspective. The issues covered included development strategies, diversity, cultural values, and the systemic role educational technology plays in global economic development. The course focused on a cross-cultural examination of contemporary academic and workplace skills.

- This activity provide an opportunity to explore a topic of interest from a global perspective.
- New Jersey City University and HR College of Mumbai
- This group project completed with James Murduca, Daun Ward, and Francisco Santiago, was a practical application of the theoretical practice of course design.
- Dimensions of Tools Used for Distance Learning in Rural Areas
- The selection of a topic with a global impact to review through the literature was used as a means of broadening our scope of reference.
EDTC 813, Advance Using Integrated Software across the Curriculum (3 credits) Dr. Shamburg
Candidates learn about integrated software packages (i.e., software which integrates word processing, data base management, paint, draw, spreadsheet and telecommunications capabilities into one package). The package is studied as the starting point of a resource-based curriculum. New types of learning and assignments across the curriculum are explored.
Assignments:
- UDL
- The candidate demonstrated the ability to select and transform a grade level learning activity utilizing Universal Design for Learning principles. Selection of the appropriate UDL application showcased understanding of the concepts learned and the ability to apply them.
- Blocks to Robots
- Demonstration of ability to apply theory to practice was the purpose of this assignment. Using chroma key screens as an educational tool the candidate demonstrated constructivist curriculum activities that require students to develop and participate in active learning.
- Flip Your Classroom
- Selection of learning tools to promote blended learning instructional techniques were demonstrated as an alternative means of instruction.
- Systems Thinking
- The final assignment demonstrated how the activities previously completed for this course aligned to concept of system thinking. The candidate described how each activity integrated into the components of the systems thinking approach, Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Building Shared Visions, and Team Learning.
EDTC 815, Advance Administration and Supervision of Technology in Educational Settings (3 credits) Dr. Shamburg
This course provides an introduction to systematic inquiry using assessment methods to understand, evaluate and solve user and organizational needs. Candidates will integrate their knowledge of research methods with the real-world challenges of conducting and analyzing research in educational and corporate settings.

- Admin & Supervision
- This group project allowed the participants the opportunity to collaborate on concepts and ideas that demonstrate best practices in the development of district technology plans. Group dynamics allowed for practical representation of issues experienced from various viewpoints. The group consisted of Peter Mattalino, Wendy Thompson, Jennifer Vanyi, and Daun Ward.
- Hiring Three Technology Coordinators
- This activity continued the theme of collaboration started in the first assignment. Building on the concepts covered in the development of district technology plans, members of the group focused on requirements at the elementary, middle and high school level of technology coordinators. The process included researching current trends and developing appropriate job descriptions and requirements necessary for each level. The group consisted of Sheila Connelly, James Murduca, and Wendy Thompson.
- Technology Implementation Plan
- Collaboration remained the theme in this third project, group members Dowayne Davis, Patricia Holzman, Meredith Moore, and Wendy Thompson, selected to focus on mathematics supports for a small urban district to demonstrate the responsibilities and decision making process involved in the determination an establishment of a districtwide initiative.
- Professional Development Experience
- The final group assignment for group members Dowayne Davis, Patricia Holzman, Meredith Moore, and Wendy Thompson, demonstrated the process of adopting a learning management system for a small urban school district. The activities provided the group with the practical demonstration of the duties of the technology coordinator.
EDTC 812 Teach in the Adult Learn Environment
- This course will emphasize teaching adult learners in post-secondary learning environments including the workplace and corporate settings. Topics will include: learning theories applied to the adult learner; distinctions of post-secondary learning environments; delivering instruction in non-traditional settings and time frames; and assessing adult learning.
